Ingredients:
For the chocolate cake:200g dark chocolate
100g butter
100g sugar
3 eggs
100g flour
1 sachet of baking powder
For the meringue:
3 egg whites
150g sugar
3 egg whites
150g sugar
1 pinch of salt
Instructions:
Preparation of the chocolate cake:
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Melt the chocolate with the butter in a double boiler or in the microwave.
Beat the egg yolks with the sugar until the mixture whitens, then add the melted chocolate. Stir in the flour and baking powder.
Beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff and gently fold them into the batter.
Pour the batter into a buttered and floured pan and bake for 25 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool.
Preparation of the meringue:
Beat the egg whites until stiff with a pinch of salt.
Gradually add the sugar and continue beating until the meringue is glossy and peaks.
Assembly:
Once the cake has cooled, spread or poach the meringue on top.
Bake again at 150°C for 10 to 15 minutes to lightly brown the meringue.
Decoration (optional):
You can sprinkle a little cocoa or add chocolate shavings for a gourmet finish.
