History of White Lady:
The white lady, called the Denmark cup in Germany and Switzerland, is a dessert made with vanilla ice cream drizzled with melted dark chocolate, sometimes embellished with meringues, chocolate shavings, whipped cream, 2 cl of vodka and, in the Ardèche, chestnut cream.
The origins of this dessert are obscure, and several stories coexist. According to one of them, a restaurant in Tivoli Gardens, in Copenhagen, had run out of dessert to offer its customers. The chef then improvised a specialty with the few ingredients he had left, namely vanilla ice cream and dark chocolate. Following the general success, this preparation was added to the menu of the establishment.
